Like many Bavarians, I've been watching Greece lately, and just waiting for it to fall and go back to the drachma, run some cheap currency, and beef up its exports and tourism. Do the LA riots distinguish East and West Coast rap? Jeff Chang has an insightful piece in this issue of the Los Angeles Review of Books on the effects of the LA riots on west coast rap, in particular Ice Cube and Dr. Dre. Chang argues that Ice Cube anticipated the riots and Dre summed them up.
